Randy Hinrichs

Randy Hinrichs, Affiliate Instructor University of Washington iSchool,  Managing Partner at 2B3D
Randy Hinrichs is an outstanding pioneer of virtual worlds in education.  For the past three years, Hinrichs has taught the Certificate in Virtual Worlds Course at the University of Washington’s ischool.  Students from diverse fields collaborate weekly in the highly challenging course (which takes place in Second Life but also offers short trips into other virtual worlds).  Graduates of the Certificate in Virtual Worlds take knowledge and skills learned from the course into a variety of professions:  business, healthcare, education, computer programming, counseling, art, project management, librarianship and other fields.  Randy Hinrichs guidance provides more than a skills set for building in 3D.  Learning together, his students are engaged in real world work that crosses the boundaries of time, space, and physical world limits. http://www.2b3d.net/

  • Dr. Kathryn Green says:

Randy Hinrichs is a pioneer in the field of immersive learning. His Certificate in Virtual Worlds program at the University of Washington’s ischool is first in its class where students learn functions and concepts of virtual worlds. Students develop long term relationships over the course of their studies as they work as team members to complete practical learning assignments. The alumni of this program have remained colleagues after graduation in support of the program’s alumni association. Congratulations to Randy Hinrichs on his amazing program and his contributions encouraging the growth of virtual world communities!
